3D ‘Wows’ the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival
Invited to create a showstopper 3d street painting at the Macon, Georgia ‘Cherry Blossom Festival‘, sponsored by GatewayMacon, I called up my good pal Shayrn Namnath to join in the fun and off to the glorious South we went.
Check out the amazing time lapse that was created on the making of this image!
Incredible ’3D Street Art’ India!
3d street art makes a heartfelt mark on india
Incredible! Truly the perfect adjective that springs to mind when summing up the latest art adventure I’ve recently had the good fortune to experience. From across oceans, deserts and mountains, and into the kaleidoscopic sanctum of my mind / heart – India and its people do not disappoint.
Invited back by the US Consulate of India to appear on a second edition of my 2009 3D Street Painting Tour, I was honored to conduct workshops and create exhibition pieces at amazing venues around the country: the renowned Jaipur Literary Festival (where I missed Oprah by days!); the renowned Kolkata Book Fair & Nandan Arts Center, Kolkata; Vellore Institute of Technology’s Riviera (more…)
2012 Kick Off: 3d Street Painting India Tour!
Happy New Year!
Event Update:
I am honored and pleased to announce my schedule for the 2012 3d Street Painting India Tour, sponsored by the US Consulate of India. The success of the first tour in 2009 was so overwhelming, it prompted the US Consulate to set up a second tour for January and February 2012. I’ll be drawing a super sized street painting at a large student organized festival, interactive images at literary and arts festivals, collaborating with world class sand artists and making an appearance at one of the world’s largest book fairs, in Kolkata.
Each stop will feature a unique 3d images designed specifically for that location, with participation from friends in India at several stops. Workshops on 3d street painting will be conducted at each stop in an effort to foster the growth of this amazing art form in India. I invite everyone to come by to see the art and visit with me while I am there. At most events you can find my work near the American Center Pavilion so look for me there. It will be a mind-blowing adventure of the dimensional kind to be sure!

3-D’s Next Generation – Japan Street Painting Workshop
After my visit to Hong Kong, I decided to make a trip over to beautiful Japan to check out Kyoto and visit some good friends down in Toba, where I had street painted back in 2004 as part of a Santa Barbara Sister City project. My dear friend Mitsuko Yamamoto had extended an invitation to visit with her family along with providing a 3-D workshop for the students enrolled in the Kokusai Kids Club in Toba.
I was thrilled to teach while there so we agreed to a 3 hour session, with approximately 30 students enrolled. Since our age gr0ups were younger than my usual classes (kids participating were aged 7 – 10 years), I decided to simplify the curriculum and present some very basic images for them to draw with chalk pastels on paper (as it was 40 (more…)
Students Set Their Hands to 3-D Chalk Art in Hong Kong Workshop
While in Hong Kong for the Home Square 3-D Illusion House Project, I had the pleasure of conducting a fun & informative 3 hour workshop for select high school art students from the Hong Kong area. I get inquiries from people all around the globe on how to draw in 3-D. Kids, especially, want to know how to draw in 3-D, so it’s been very rewarding for me to add an educational component, via the workshop, to many of the contracted projects I engage in around the world. Last year’s workshops in India proved so productive for everyone involved that I (more…)
Street painting for Clemson Live – O.A.R. Concert

Just had a brief but enjoyable stay in beautiful Clemson, South Carolina, where I was creating an anamorphic 3D street painting for Clemson Live, a student run organization at Clemson University, responsible for campus events and activities. This past weekend’s main attraction was the O.A.R. concert at Little John Auditorium on the Clemson campus.

Art Along the Rogue 2008 – ‘Persephone Falling into Hades’
This year I was invited back to charming Grant’s Pass, Oregon to participate in the 6th annual Art Along the Rogue Street Painting Festival. I had last participated in 2006 and was looking forward to seeing my Oregonian friends for another weekend of great art and great music. This festival is spearheaded by Jeff Jones, a musician and art lover, along with the community of Grant’s Pass; they always do a great job at making us ‘out of towners’ feel welcome.
This year the festival had a theme – classical reproductions. Renaissance, Baroque, Pre-Raphaelite, Neo-Classical, Impressionism – anything by a great master. Jeff asked me if I could participate in (more…)
10 of World’s Most Amazing 3D Street Artists
While I have never considered street painting as graffiti (as it is not permanent nor does it deface property), I suppose that depends on one’s viewpoint. I was recently listed as one of the ‘Top 10 3D Street Artists in the World’ by WebUrbanist. I am deeply honored and appreciative that others find my work interesting or note-worthy – thanks Kurt! ’3 Cranes’ street painting video
If you haven’t seen it yet check out a cool video of me creating a 3d street painting using time lapse photography. This street painting is an original composition inspired by the eastern art of paper folding, known as origami in Japanese.
I used myself as a model for the figure, who sits on a crumpled piece of paper while (more…)
