2012 Kick Off: 3d Street Painting India Tour!

Happy New Year!

Event Update:

I am honored and pleased to announce my schedule for the 2012 3d Street Painting India Tour, sponsored by the US Consulate of India. The success of the first tour in 2009 was so overwhelming, it prompted the US Consulate to set up a second tour for January and February 2012. I’ll be drawing a super sized street painting at a large student organized festival, interactive images at literary and arts festivals, collaborating with world class sand artists and making an appearance at one of the world’s largest book fairs, in Kolkata.

Each stop will feature a unique 3d images designed specifically for that location, with participation from friends in India at several stops. Workshops on 3d street painting will be conducted at each stop in an effort to foster the growth of this amazing art form in India. I invite everyone to come by to see the art and visit with me while I am there. At most events you can find my work near the American Center Pavilion so look for me there.  It will be a mind-blowing adventure of the dimensional kind to be sure!

3D Street Art – Colors of Willemstad, Curacao

The Colors of Willemstad is a relatively new event, celebrating it’s 2nd anniversary in 2011. I was invited to attend and create one of my signature 3d interactive images to wow the folks of Curacao. My team and I arrived on a Monday and began work on Wednesday. We enjoyed a great day at the beach on Tuesday, soaking up some of the wonderful Caribbean sun and enjoying the warm tropical waters. A great way to get into street painting mode! (more…)

Tracy's Sea Monster street painting at IIT Kanpur

I recently had the tremendous pleasure of traveling back to India as a guest visiting artist to teach street painting, specifically 3d street painting techniques, to high school & college level students as well as professional artists in 5 major cities. Initially my tour began in Kanpur, India, where I would be arriving at IIT Kanpur as a participating artist in their annual cultural festival, Antaragni (meaning ‘The Fire Within.’) I’d been to India last year to participate in this capacity at Mood Indigo, IIT Bombay’s culture and arts fest. The response there had been so great that the organizing body at IIT Kanpur decided to add the street painting component to their roster this year as well. (more…)

What Are The Origins of Street Painting?

When searching out how street painting first started I encountered a variety of versions of the story, from a variety of sources. All, however, generally agreed that it was first documented in Italy. While other forms of ephemeral works have been documented in other countries and cultures throughout history, I would like (more…)
